Get involved – Farmers and Landowners
Today’s consumer is increasingly concerned about environmental and animal welfare issues in farming. By joining Friends of the Honey Bee, farmers can highlight their commitment to best practice and increased biodiversity.
But there is a financial benefit too. Bees are significantly more productive in helping farmers increase their yields than any artificial pollination method- and much cheaper too. By sowing bee-friendly plants in your margins and hedgerows, you will be able to increase your yields and your financial margins.
Friends of the Honey Bee in partnership with LEAF will work with you in devising bee-friendly planting on your farm, helping attract a wide variety of pollinating insects such as solitary bees, bumblebees, hover flies and so many more in addition to the honey bee – all of which can help to improve your crop yields.
If you have a plot of land that you’d like to see buzzing with honey bees, why not register on Pollination Dating and make it available to a BBKA registered Beekeeper who can use it for keeping their bees? If the site is right, you too may get to enjoy a taste of honey.
